Comment spam is up to 200 a day and is only getting worse, and Akismet is pretty good at sorting the wheat from the chaff, so I'm just deleting all comments it thinks are spam, sight-unseen.

It seems to spider blogs and help them be visible to search engines. Beyond that, I’m kinda unclear myself.
The post here was an obligatory one for it to authenticate the ownership of the blog. Obligatory in the sense that the alternative was to give it my WordPress password.
